French Maxim Debost died in the incident, which occurred at the tournament in equestrian eventing in the French Chateaubriand, reports the press service of the International equestrian Federation.

While discipline cross 29-year-old Debost and his horse failed to overcome the obstacle. The athlete rolled over and fell together with the horse.

The doctors immediately after the incident, tried to assist the athlete, but were unable to save him. The horse received no injuries during the fall.

“This tragic incident. I’m talking from the entire equestrian community, we mourn this loss, said FEI Secretary General Sabrina ibáñez. – Maxim Debost was a very experienced rider who competed at the international level for the last 12 years. His loss will affect many people in our community.”

The competition after the incident were cancelled. The police, in cooperation with the FEI launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
