Court of arbitration for sport (CAS) in Lausanne has banned five Russian walkers for the anti-doping rule violation. As reported in a press release, CAS, penalty was imposed on Vera Sokolova, Elmira Alembekova, Ivan Noskov and Mikhail Ryzhov and Denis Strelkov.

All of these athletes passed the positive doping tests for EPO on June 2, 2015 in Saransk and was suspended for four years from July 2016. All the results after putting the positive samples will be void.

Note that these athletes were barred from competition in September of 2015. Their disqualification, in the words of the Secretary-General of the all-Russian athletics Federation (vfla) Mikhail Butov, is “shot from the past.”

“Many of the processes in CAS are very tight – he said TASS. – We ask the International Association of athletics federations to change this situation. Unfortunately, we have quite a lot of such cases, shots from the past continue.”

Butov called these cases echo the activities of the former coach of Mordovian walkers Victor Chegin, in the beginning of the year received a lifetime ban on coaching.
