Due to hit Moscow freezing rain on 10 November in the capital’s airports canceled about a hundred flights, the flight about two dozen Airliners will be delayed, reports “Interfax” citing a source in air traffic control services of the Moscow aviation hub.
According to him, most flights canceled at the international airport Sheremetyevo – 90, has been delayed seven. In “Domodedovo” six flights cancelled and delayed 12. In “Vnukovo” cancelled one flight.
“Airfield services translated into enhanced mode, – said the source. – On the ground enhanced by the presence of cleaning equipment, runways and taxiways are cleared with reduced intervals, this overlaps one of the bands, which causes short term delays”.

“All aircraft, leaving the capital region, before flying was treated with deicing fluid, which also may cause delay of flights”, – said the Agency interlocutor.
However, he assured that the Moscow air port ready to cope with bad weather. According to him, the current freezing rain is unlikely to lead to large-scale aviakollaps, as it was at the end of 2010. Then, among other things, the Domodedovo airport was partially de-energized.
“Airports have made the system conclusions from the consequences of the ice storm of late December 2010. In all airports of Moscow terminal area formed reserves from independent power sources, as well as the necessary supplies of reagents for the treatment of airfields and aircraft”, – concluded the source.
On the night of November 10, 2016 to Moscow was hit by heavy snowfall which has passed in the morning in freezing rain. Roads and sidewalks were covered with ice. Public utilities switched to clock mode. In cleaning the city from snow will involve more than 10 thousand units to 20 thousand workers.
However, according to forecasters, by the evening due to variations in temperature the ice will melt and cause the streets to flood. It is expected wind increase. In the MOE warned about possible damage of power lines, felling of trees, damage to poorly fortified and large format advertising structures. According to the forecasts of meteorologists, precipitation in Moscow will run until Sunday, November 13.
