Former pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, currently a member of Parliament, proposed to start direct talks with the leaders of the self-proclaimed people’s republics of Donbass, reports UNIAN.
Speaking about ways to resolve the conflict in the Donbas, Savchenko suggested not to lift sanctions against Russia, which, in her opinion, “still did not understand that she had to leave the East of Ukraine”, and negotiate with the DPR and LPR, without intermediaries, that is, abandoning the Minsk process.
Savchenko said it was ready to negotiate personally with the leaders of the DNI and LC as a “people’s deputies”. “Mr Zakharchenko and Mr Plotnitsky can be positioned by the powers – albeit positioned as the MPs from the “DNR” and “LNR”. I’m ready to talk to them”, – said Nadezhda Savchenko.
On 6 June she went with a visit to the Donbass. She met with the military, met with former colleagues and even sat at the controls of a military helicopter.
Before her visit, the head of DNR Alexander Zakharchenko declared that is not going to lead with Savchenko direct dialogue, transferred the portal “news Donetsk Republic”. “To have a dialogue with us? I don’t want to engage in a dialogue with it. This is the usual prisoner of war”, – he said. Also Zakharchenko has threatened to kill her. “If Savchenko gets here, just my little advice goes to the front line, we’ll get honestly, so that later, when we will have to blame that we killed her, didn’t get hurt.”
Recall that Nadezhda Savchenko was involved in military operations on Donbass in 2014. Then she was in Russia, where he was sentenced to 22 years in prison for the murder of journalists VGTRK in the Donbass. The court found that she was covert observation and adjustment of artillery fire during the shelling, during which killed Russian correspondents Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin. Itself Savchenko denies the charges.
