Suspect in terrorism 22-year-old refugee from Syria Jaber al-Bakr was found hanged in his cell in the prison of Leipzig. The Ministry of justice of Saxony informed that he had committed suicide, despite the fact that was supposed to be under constant surveillance in connection with the declared hunger strike and suspicions of suicidal tendencies, says DW. Jaber al-Bakr arrived in Germany as an asylum seeker in September 2015 and has since lived here, having received refugee status. The Minister of internal Affairs of Germany Thomas de Maiziere said that upon arrival in Germany, al-Bakr was checked for possible terrorist links, but nothing suspicious then, could not be found.

The police began to follow him since September of 2016, after receiving information about his possible involvement in terrorist activities. When first trying to arrest on 8 October in Chemnitz Jaber al-Bakr managed to escape. In the apartment where he lived, was discovered 1.5 kilograms of powerful explosives. On the night of October 10, he was arrested in Leipzig by other Syrian refugees, identified al-Bakr and the issuing authorities.

According to sources, during his stay in Germany, al-Bakr went on for some time in Syria and in Turkey. Travel al-Bakr to Syria, told the members of his family in an interview with broadcaster MDR, in addition, similar information received from its neighbors.

It is assumed that on the instructions of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia), al-Bakr were preparing terrorist attacks in one of Berlin’s airports or train transport.
