“Sale” is one of those very rare books where satire, which is an extremely complex subject and not always applied with success, managed to plunge into the heart of modern American society with such brutal wit, what I have not seen since (Jonathan) swift and (Mark) TWAIN. It (the book) managed to gut every social taboo and politically precise nuances, every “sacred cow”. She causes us to laugh and wince. She’s equally funny and painful,” said jury President Amanda foreman.
In the struggle for “Booker” – one of the most prestigious literaturnyh peace prize worth 50 thousand pounds, Paul Beatty ahead of five others caught in the shortlist of contenders, among which was the British writer Deborah levy is the author of “Hot milk” (Hot milk), her compatriot Graham Macri Barnett with the work “His bloody project” (His Bloody Project), American Attessa, Moshfegh and her book, “Eileen” (Eileen), British-canadian writer David Ssali with the novel “the Whole essence of man” (All That Is Man) and the canadian Madeleine Thien with the work “don’t tell me we have nothing” (Do Not Say We Have Nothing).
