Russia has received the Deposit from Turkey for the supply of anti-aircraft missile systems (WRU) s-400 “Triumph”, was confirmed on Friday, September 29, Russian presidential aide Vladimir Kozhin, the statement of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, made in mid-September.
“The contract came into effect, the advance is paid. On specific dates yet can not say anything” – quoted Kozhin “Interfax”.
The issue of transfer of Turkey production technology of s-400 has not been discussed. “This speech is not, while we are talking only about the supply of finished weapons,” – said Kozhin.
Erdogan, referring to the advance, noted that “he and Mr. Putin are determined on this issue”. Question about accelerating the supply of anti-aircraft missile systems was discussed at yesterday’s meeting of Russian President Putin and Turkish President in Ankara. According to the Turkish side, the delivery of s-400 to Turkey will begin within two years.
In September Kozhin said that the purchase of s-400 to Russia lined up the “real place”: the countries of South-East Asia, the Middle East and some member States of the CSTO.
About the negotiations between Russia and Turkey concerning the purchase of the “Triumphs” became known almost a year ago in November 2016. 18 November, the Minister of defence of Turkey Fikri Ishik in an interview to NTV channel said that Turkey is negotiating with Russia about the potential purchase of systems.
Again, the issue was raised at the may meeting of the presidents of Turkey and Russia, Erdogan and Vladimir Putin in Sochi. The agreement on delivery of Russian s-400 to Turkey was signed in late July.
Russian media reportedthat Moscow is ready to supply Turkey with four battalions of antiaircraft missile system s-400 at a price of $ 500 million for the division. Also in Ankara claimed that Russia has agreed to provide Turkey with the technology to create the system.
S-400 “Triumph” (NATO classification – SA-21 Growler) in the development and production of, the EBA concern “Almaz-Antey” is intended for highly effective protection from air strikes, strategic, cruise, tactical and operational-tactical ballistic missiles as well as ballistic missiles and medium-range missiles in combat and electronic countermeasures. The system can be used night and day in all physical-geographical and climatic conditions, with strong radio-electronic counteraction.
Since 2007 the s-400 are in service with the Russian army. At the moment the s-400 system provides a defense of the Russian military base “Hamim” in Syria.
Prior to the contract with Turkey the only country, which was awarded the contract to supply was China. The signing of the contract became known in the spring of 2015. In April 2017, “Rosoboronexport” reported that Moscow has started performance of the contract.
