In preparation for the forthcoming electoral campaign for the elections to the German Bundestag, which, as it became known, will stand for Chancellor Angela Merkel, Federal office for the protection of Constitution of Germany expressed concern about the possible intervention of Russia in the internal political process in Germany.
“Last year, we have seen that the Russian side was influenced in the formation of public opinion in Germany. The same could happen in the next year, and we are concerned about this,” said the head of Department Hans-Georg Oil in an interview with Reuters. An example of such influence, he called the story of the alleged kidnapping of Russian girl Lisa Berlin.
“We have the impression that it is part of the hybrid threat as influences on the formation of public opinion and the decision-making process. It is important to bring it to the public. The best way is to talk about it. If people notice that the information they receive is untrue and in fact is propaganda and disinformation then the poison of lies eventually loses its effectiveness,” added Oil.
