The Minister of foreign Affairs of great Britain Boris Johnson has called Russia guilty in the attack on the humanitarian convoy of the United Nations in Aleppo. He noted the need to investigate war crimes in Syria to international court and urged the British to organise protests at the Russian Embassy in London, reports The Guardian.

“Satellite photos, publicly available, indicate that the attack was carried out from the air and in the dark. According to statements by Russia, the troops of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is not possible to carry out attacks in the dark. All the evidence points to Russia”, – he declared, speaking in Parliament during a special debate on Syria.

The Minister is convinced that the UN Commission investigating the incident, and assured that Britain will do everything possible to help the investigation. Johnson also echoed the words of many members that the bombing of civilians are war crimes which should be investigated and the perpetrators should be punished.

“The events of recent years show that carried out war crimes are punished even many years after they occurred,” said chief British diplomat. While Johnson suggested that if Russia “will continue in the same spirit,” she can become a “pariah”.

In addition, the British foreign Minister also called for protests at the Russian Embassy in London because of the situation in Syria. “Where are the protests against war?” asked Johnson. The statement responded by the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. “Apparently, Boris Johnson has moved from words to action and used the weapon that threatened Russia, is a shame. We really ashamed of him”, – she wrote on his page in Facebook.

This is not the first time a British Minister in a very rigid form speaks about Russia in the context of the fighting in Syria. On 2 October, Boris Johnson said about the impossibility to continue the talks on Syria on the background of the bombing of hospitals, which are attributed to the Syrian and Russian aircraft.

“The ongoing brutality of the Assad regime against the population of Aleppo and the complicity of Russia in committing obvious war crimes, the bombing of hospitals, when they know that this hospital and nothing else, except hospitals, – make impossible the resumption of peace talks, and only increase the immigration crisis,” said Johnson.

Earlier, on October 11, the current UK member of Parliament Andrew Mitchell compared the military Russia’s support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad with the support of the Nazi regime in Germany the rebellion of General Franco in Spain in the 1930-ies, and the bombing of Aleppo with bombing of Guernica in 1937.

Commenting on Russia’s veto, the block on 8 October, the UN proposal to stop the airstrikes in Aleppo and a military aircraft fly over the city, Mitchell said, “They destroy the UN and its ability to act in the same way as the Germans and the Italians destroyed the League of Nations in 1930-e years”.

On 30 September the UN Secretary-General ban Ki-moon announced the establishment of a special Commission to investigate all circumstances of attack a humanitarian convoy of the United Nations in the Syrian province of Aleppo. His spokesman Stefan Dujarric said that the Commission “will establish the facts of the incident, and will report to the Secretary-General on the results of the carried out work.”

Earlier, the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov gave an interview to the BBC on the anniversary of the Russian military campaign in Syria. When BBC World presenter Stephen Sackur asked whether Russia is ready to apologize for this attack, as did the American leader Barack Obama after the impact of the coalition government forces in Deir-ez-Zor, head of the Russian foreign Ministry demanded proof of Russian involvement. “I’d like to see such evidence,” – said Lavrov.

A joint convoy from the Syrian Arab red Crescent (SARC) and UN humanitarian agencies on 19 September was shelled in the area of Urum al-Kubra, North-West of the city of Aleppo. The convoy consisted of 31 of the truck and drove by to 78 thousand people. The convoy was marked with the logos of the UN and the SARC, in its passage to the Eastern districts of Aleppo were received from Damascus and the armed opposition.

In the American administration then stated that the convoy came under air strikes, and noted that the international coalition forces led by the United States to attack innocent. Deputy adviser to the President for national security Ben Rhodes said that the US impose on Russia responsible for the attack on the convoy.

In Moscow and Damascus, in turn, reported that Russian and Syrian air force did not inflict blows on a humanitarian convoy. The Russian defense Ministry denied involvement in the attack, Russian and Syrian aircraft. The Agency noted that the footage from the scene of the attack there is no sign of interference with the column of ammunition. “All demonstrated in the video frames is a direct consequence of the fire load, which is a strange way began simultaneously with the implementation of a large scale militant attack on Aleppo,” – said the official representative of the Ministry of defense Igor Konashenkov.
