British pacifists refused to hold the action near the Embassy of the Russian Federation after the call of the foreign Minister
In the UK continues intense discussion of resonant statements of the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Boris Johnson, who called earlier to arrange the protest at Russian diplomatic missions because of the situation in Syria. So, the head of labour’s Jeremy Corbyn, criticized the statement of the diplomat, noted that the protesters have grounds for demonstrations and the walls of the U.S. Embassy in London, writes The Guardian.
The official representative of Corbin with reference to the leader of the opposition said that “the protesters are concerned about the atrocities in Syria, have as much reason to stock the walls of the U.S. Embassy, like the Russian”. He also agreed on the need for Syrian settlement through negotiations, adding that “people have the freedom to protest not only at the Russian Embassy, but also at offices of all other coalition forces”.
Deputy Chairman of the anti-war group Chris Ninham, in turn, said that the British government is fueling anti-Russian sentiment in an attempt to justify the escalation of British military intervention in Syria.
Activists of the “Stop the war” come from the fact that the protest near the Russian Embassy will only lead to the increase of “hysteria and racism” against Russia on the part of politicians and the media, said Ninham. He added that “they will not do it, because the organization focuses on what makes the British government”.
“What we say is the hysteria that is organized by politicians and media against Russia, and they want to see Russia as the only problem in Syria,” – said one of the leaders of the British pacifists.
Simultaneously, the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov advised the British authorities to ensure the safety of Russian diplomatic institutions in accordance with the Vienna Convention.
“My colleague Zakharova (Zakharova, Maria – the official representative the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation) answered the Minister for foreign Affairs of great Britain. I would just like to add that the Minister is well aware of the Vienna Convention and on the duties of great Britain to be responsible for the security of the Russian dipuchrezhdeny on its territory,” – said Peskov.
October 11, Boris Johnson, has said Russia risks becoming a pariah if it continues to bomb civilian targets in Syria, and called to hold a protest outside the Russian Embassy in London. “Of course, I’d like to see a demonstration of those who opposed the war from the Russian Embassy. Where are the activists of the coalition “Stop the war”?” – said the British Minister. He also said that Russian troops responsible for bombing the UN convoy.
Later official representative of foreign Ministry of Russia Maria Zakharova said that Moscow ashamed of the foreign Minister of great Britain. The official representative of the Ministry of defense of Russia Igor Konashenkov, in turn, called Johnson’s statement about the alleged impact of the Russian aviation humanitarian convoy to Aleppo “Russophobic hysteria”.
The Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations of 18 April 1961 regulates including the work of foreign missions. In particular, the document States that “the premises of the mission shall be inviolable” and “in the receiving state the special duty lays to take all appropriate measures to protect premises of the mission against any intrusion or damage and to prevent any disturbance of the missions or insults his dignity.”
