The Moscow arbitration court on Monday upheld the claim of the Museum of the East, supported by the government, eviction of the International centre of the Roerichs (ICR) of the Lopukhins ‘ estate. In the manual he called this decision “a gross injustice” and believe that the state of this moment, has gone the way of violation of the guarantees given to Svyatoslav Roerich in the transmission of its heritage to Russia.

“The Ministry of culture and the court, without any legal grounds to evict a public Museum, founded by Roerich from the estate, transferred to the ICR specifically to accommodate and the activities of its public Museum. The Ministry of culture, using its administrative resource, provides a consistent raider seizure of the Lopukhins ‘estate and heritage of the Roerichs”, – said in a statement on the website of the centre.

It recalled that Svetoslav Roerich, a citizen of India and passed the legacy to Russia if the following two conditions: the legacy is passed for the creation of a public Museum, and this Museum should be located in the Lopukhins ‘ estate.

At ICR said they will use all its capabilities to defend the fulfillment of the will of Roerich and keep transferred to them by inheritance.

The lawyer of the center of Anna Razumovskaya in conversation with RBC said that the decision of the court will terminated the contracts for gratuitous use of a number of the buildings of the estate Lopukhina. The main building of the manor house and the outbuilding will fully switch to the jurisdiction of the Museum of the East. “This decision does not suit us, we intend to appeal,” said the lawyer.

Note that in early March, law enforcement raided the Center of the Roerichs in the case of fraud brought against Boris Baker wanted the former owner of “Master-Bank”. According to investigators, from 1990 to 2010, he acquired paintings by the Roerichs in the illegally received money and passed them in the gift of the ICR.

Baker was a member of the Board of the International centre of the Roerichs, financed the restoration of the Lopukhins ‘ estate in Moscow and opening in her Center. Nicholas Roerich.

During the searches were seized 57 packages of paintings by Svyatoslav and Nicholas Roerich. They were all deposited in the Museum of the East. In ICR then stated that the staff of the centre want to illegally connect to the criminal case as suspects.
