American Danny Garcia won the vacant title of world champion under version WBC in the weight category up 66,68 kg, which were previously owned by retired Floyd Mayweather.

In a 12-round bout in Los Angeles, Garcia won against compatriot Robert Guerrero on points – 116:112, 116:112, 116:112.

Garcia became a world champion in a second weight class. From 2012 to 2014 he held the WBC and WBA titles in weight to 63,5 kg, and then decided to change the category. The fight with Guerrero was his second in this weight after winning in August 2015 over countryman Paul Malignaggi by TKO.

A record 32-year-old Garcia is now 32 wins (18 KOs), no defeats. Now he must spend a mandatory defense of the WBC belt against Briton Amir Khan.

Recall that Mayweather ended his career and left the championship belt in September last year after defeating American Andre Berto.
