Chukotka Prosecutor’s office denied the information about the termination of the criminal case about the murder of a white bear, which was fed to a firecracker. “This information is untrue”, – is reported on the websiteof the Prosecutor’s office.

“The criminal case brought 28.12.2015 on signs of the crime provided p. 1 of article 245 of the criminal code on the fact of cruel treatment with polar bears on Wrangel island, not over. In connection with the assumption by the body of inquiry tape, the given criminal case by the district Prosecutor’s office removed from production and transferred for further investigation to the investigating authorities”, – stated in the message.

Information on termination of the case published by news Agency FlashNord. The author of the article referred to a source in the administration of the Chukot Autonomous area. Thus in regional management of the Ministry of internal Affairs information about dismiss the case was denied.

The incident with the white bear occurred on Wrangel island in November 2015. An employee of a construction company working on the construction of objects of the Ministry of defence, threw a firecracker to an animal instead of food. Video of the incident was posted online and caused a strong public resonance. The culprit of the incident was fined three thousand rubles. Media sources in law enforcement also claimed that the employee faces up to three years of imprisonment.
