The founder of the Museum of modern art “Garage” in Moscow, the designer and co-owner of Kova & T Daria Zhukova once again got in the annual list of most influential people in the art world version of ArtReview. During the year the girlfriend of businessman Roman Abramovich has dropped from 97 th to 98 th place.
The first line of the rating took the curator, critic, art historian and Director of London art gallery, The Serpentine’s Hans-Ulrich Obrist. Seven years ago he has headed this ranking, but then lost the lead.
Second place goes to the Director of the Museum Kunsthalle Basel Adam Simcik. The third position is given to the leaders of last year – to art dealer Ivan and Manuela Wirth. Fourth place – the American gallerist and art dealer David Zwirner. In fifth place is the leaders of the London Tate Modern gallery, Nicholas Serota and Francis Morris. Sixth place is given to the art dealer and gallerist Larry Gagosian.
Seventh place – the artist and filmmaker Hito Steyerl, the eighth place was taken by the Director of the Museum of contemporary American art the Whitney, Adam Weinberg. Ninth place ranking – the photographer Wolfgang Tillmans. The 10th place ranking is a famous Chinese artist and dissident AI Weiwei.
As noted by the BBC, ranking ArtReview is the expert Council, which includes writers, artists, curators and critics.
Contemporary art center “Garage” Daria Zhukova opened with Abramovich in 2008. The Museum organizes exhibitions and educational activities: seminars, lectures, discussions, film screenings, master classes and courses for adults and children. The Museum also conducts scientific activities. In September, Zhukova fell in the ranking of the most influential people in the art world, according to the portal Artnet.
