Erdogan has threatened to open its borders to immigrants if suspended membership negotiations of Turkey to the EU
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the European Union of betrayal and unfulfilled promises of the immigration deal and threatened to open the Turkish border for migrants, writes Hurriyet Daily News. He announced on Friday, November 25, the day after the European Parliament voted for the suspension of negotiations on Turkey’s membership in the EU.
“You never treated people honestly and don’t care about them really, you didn’t pick up that wash up on the shore of the Mediterranean sea. We are feeding approximately three and a half million refugees in the country,” Erdogan quoted a Turkish newspaper.
“You don’t keep their promises. When the 50 thousand refugees were at the border at Kapikule (the border checkpoint with Bulgaria. – Approx. NEWSru.com) you screamed, “What are we going to do if Turkey opens the border.” See if you go further, these borders will be opened. So you know,” said Erdogan.
Reuters said that it was said at the Congress in Istanbul on women’s rights. “Neither I, nor my men will not work, empty promises, keep that in mind,” warned Erdogan, referring to the leadership of the EU.
In the framework of agreements with the European Union Turkey promised to contain over three million illegal migrants. In his speech, Erdogan noted that the country has not received all the promised her money, reports AP. “We have received 550 million dollars from the UN. The European Union promised about $ 700 million. But we spent 15 billion dollars”, – reported the Turkish leader.
Thursday, 24 November, the European Parliament voted to suspend the negotiations with Turkey, it was voted 479 deputies, against – 37, another 107 deputies abstained. So MPs responded to “inadequate” reaction of the Turkish leadership to the failed coup in July. In non-legislative, but expressing the opinion of Parliament’s resolution notes that the EU intends to develop relations with Turkey.
Earlier, Erdogan has repeatedly threatened to break the deal and said about the possibility of joining the Shanghai cooperation organization with Russia and China instead of EU membership.

Against this background, the EU said that the return of the death penalty will stop all negotiations on the accession of Turkey to the Union of European States, and statedthat under Erdogan is unlikely to occur.
