At the request of journalists to comment on Erdogan’s statement about the intention to overthrow Assad, a Kremlin spokesman said: “the Statement really was news, this is a very serious statement”, reports TASS. “We certainly hope that we will soon receive some clarification on this from our Turkish partners,” – said the head of the Kremlin press service.

At the same time, Peskov noted that Erdogan’s statement as a whole “discordant” with his previous statements and at odds with the understanding of the situation by the Russian authorities. The representative of the Kremlin recalled that the Russian Armed forces “are the only legitimate regime” in Syria. “It’s very important to remember,” – said the press Secretary of the President of Russia.
