Ex-Director of the library of Ukrainian literature admitted to throwing out books of the “anti-Russian” in a landfill
Former Director of the library of Ukrainian literature Valentyna Slyusarchuk at the hearing in the matter of her colleagues, who led the library from 2007 to 2015, Natalia Sharina, accused of extremism and embezzlement, admitted that “dump” some books “anti-Russian”, reports RBC.
Slyusarchuk, passing on the case Sharina as a witness, stated that readers often bring books as a gift. According to her, these books were kept in service space available for visitors. They were later checked by Department employees pick and chose which books to leave the library. Moreover, according to Slyusarchuk, the books themselves, workers do not read, and studied only the title and abstract.
She also noted that sometimes studied the newly received publication, although it was not in her job description. Slyusarchuk stressed that clear criteria for the selection of literature was not and the library is never censored. Some of the books she had thrown away, declared the ex-the Director of the library.
In early November it became known that the amount of damage inflicted Natalia Sharina, estimated at three and a half million rubles. This was during a session in petty-bourgeois court of Moscow declared the prosecution.
The Prosecutor announced that, Sharina, “breaking the law, organized the receipt of payment orders from the settlement account of Department of Finance of the city of Moscow to the account of the Moscow bar Association with a total amount of 297 thousand rubles”.
In addition, according to the case file, she had committed embezzlement in the amount of 3.2 million rubles, having arranged for work friends, her lawyer, listing their salaries and providing them with health insurance. The money was transferred from the account of the Finance Department of the city of Moscow.
From the indictment read out by Prosecutor Elena Balandina, it follows that Sharina imputed item “b” of part 2 of article 282 (“inciting hatred or enmity with use of official position”; a sanction of up to 5 years in prison) and part 4 of article 160 of the criminal code (“Waste in especially large size”; up to 10 years).
Protection Sharina considers criminal case against it is political. “The case went legal rail, it has become political,” – said earlier the head of “Team 29″, lawyer Ivan Pavlov. Advocates stressed that they are going seeking a full acquittal of the former Director of the library.
Political “Ukrainian trail” in Sharina noted human rights center “memorial” in its report on political prisoners in Russia, the number of which last year increased more than twice.
Natalia Sharin detained in late October 2015. According to the investigation, from 2011 to 2015, she distributed among the visitors of the institution books of the Ukrainian nationalist Korchynsky, previously recognized as extremist. The library staff claimed that forbidden literature was planted.
