Experts of the security Council urged to counteract the distortion of information about the October revolution
The experts of the scientific Council of the security Council last week discussed the preparations for the 100th anniversary of the October revolution in 2017, and came to the conclusion that it is necessary to resist the attempts of intentional distortion of information about this and other periods of Russian history, according to the newspaper “Kommersant”.
According to the newspaper, at the meeting of the section on information security issues the scientific Council of the SB also suggested the need for a public center that could take into account experience eliminated in 2012 of the Commission on the prevention of attempts of falsification of history.
According to the participants, it was that historical memory becomes the object of a “deliberate destructive actions by foreign government agencies and international organizations that implement geopolitical interests in the course of conducting anti-Russian policy.” For this reason, the necessary forms preventive maintenance and rapid response to attempts of falsification of history, concluded the experts.
Among the major threats to the participants of the meeting called the conduct of foreign States, information campaigns, historical illiteracy of young people, the disappearance of historical non-fiction books.
SAT experts have identified six key the most important historical events and periods subject to tampering and in need of protection. Among them, the national policy of the Russian Empire (speculation on the “colonial question”), national policy of the USSR; the Soviet role in the victory over fascism in the Second world war; the Molotov – Ribbentrop Pact, the USSR and political crises in the GDR, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and other former socialist countries.
During the meeting it was noted that the reason for the attempts of intentional distortion may be approaching in 2017 the 100th anniversary of the October revolution of 1917.
As the article says, the meeting recommended that the security Council “to conduct a coordinated information policy, to create, develop and implement mechanisms to identify to the media and the Internet signs information campaigns aimed at the distortion of history, to bring to the joint activities of the member States of the organization of collective security Treaty (CSTO)”.
The main report on the theme of falsification of history and threats to national security were prepared by the General staff of the defense Ministry. The report contained proposals on formation of state strategy of counteraction of falsification of history.
Coordinator of the analytical Association of the CSTO Professor Igor Panarin made a report, which noted that the falsification of history is one of the components of the hybrid wars. In turn, Professor, Department of Russian politics, Moscow state University Andrey manoylo expressed the view that the fight against organized West global system of falsification and distortion of history is possible, only possessing their own system of information confrontation.
In the presidential administration, “Kommersant” was told that any effort on the semantic content of the anniversary of the revolution in Russia is only “the prerogative of the scientific community”.
The Commission to counter attempts to falsify history to the detriment of Russia under the President of the Russian Federation was established by decree on holding then a post of the head of the state Dmitry Medvedev in 2009. Three years later it was abolished.
