Famous Russian mixed martial arts fighter Fedor Emelianenko, who previously announced the resumption of career, is in excellent physical shape, said the American MMA fighter Jeff Monson.
Emelianenko in July announced the to resume a career after a three year break. 38-year-old fighter is currently the President of the MMA Union of Russia. He was also Advisor to the Minister of sports of Russia Vitaly Mutko and oversaw martial arts.
“It’s fantastic that Fedor returns. He had three years to rest and recover. And now I’m really looking forward to when he starts to speak. And I will fully support it as a fan. I saw him recently, he’s in great physical shape,” Monson said at a press conference.
Monson made the decision to obtain Russian citizenship. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin Dmitry Peskov said that Monson’s appeal for citizenship was received, will be reviewed, and the President will take the decision.
“Russia is a huge country and everywhere people are very friendly and hospitable. The choice of where to live, I have yet. But I’ll start from where I will open my own school,” said the fighter.
American also said that if necessary, he is ready to fulfill the standards of the TRP.
“If I become a citizen of Russia and it will be required from me, I will pass the provisions of the TRP. I’m still an athlete and should be able to implement them,” concluded Monson.
