The former defender of the Moscow football club “the locomotive” and Russian national team Alexey Arifullin died 28 September at the 47th year of life, reports a press-service of railwaymen.

The funeral of the football player will be held September 30 at the Mitino cemetery.

“Heart failure – most likely a blood clot. He had surgery, everything was on the mend, he was ready to go be issued for work to the football school, but suddenly yesterday morning he died,” he said shortly.

“This is a tragedy for the whole family, – said the Agency interlocutor. – He was a football talent, he had good speed, he was physically strong, played well at the top, and generally a solid guy. With him it was nice to talk to, he listened to the opinions of not only football, but also in ordinary life, he was a very sociable guy, like the whole team that time.”

Arifullin played for “Lokomotiv” from 1989 to 2000 and held at this time 287 matches in all competitions three times won the Cup of Russia, two times won silver and bronze medals of the championship. He has also one game in the national team of the Russian Federation.
