Former Director of the foreign intelligence Service (SVR) Mikhail Fradkov, who accepted the President’s offer to become Chairman of the Board of Directors of the concern “Almaz – Antey”, has officially moved to a new position. Information is already available on the website of the concern. Fradkov has also headed the Russian Institute of strategic studies (RISS).
In addition to Fradkov, the Board of Directors of “Almaz – Antey”, in particular, include the first Deputy General Director of Rostec Vladimir Artyakov, General Director of JSC “RTI” Sergey Boev, the head of the Department of defense Andrei Bubnov, Deputy head of the presidential administration on foreign policy, Igor Nagornyy and the General Director of JSC “EKO Concern “Almaz – Antey” Jan Novikov.
Information about the new appointment of Fradkov came after a personal meeting with President Vladimir Putin and CEO of state Corporation rostec Sergei Chemezov. “We agreed that you will head the Supervisory Board of Russian Railways, but Sergey turned to you with a request, I know, and I went on to use you in “Diamond – antee”, having in mind that it is the enterprises of the military complex here and it’s your job not only as Prime Minister but also as head of foreign intelligence would be very useful”, – said the President of the Russian Federation.
Putin Fradkov was released from the post of Director of the SVR at the end of September in connection with retirement. He was replaced by former speaker of the state Duma Sergey Naryshkin. At the same time press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov declared that in the near future, Fradkov “will be nominated Chairman of the Board of Directors of Russian Railways”.
In mid-October, “Vedomosti” wrote that Fradkov is unlikely to occupy the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Russian Railways. According to journalists, the designation could prevent the fact that the former head of the SVR 2014 is in the sanctions list of the EU.
