The Federal security service of the Russian Federation received documented information about the plans of international terrorist organizations to expand their activities in the North Caucasus, said the head of Department Alexander Bortnikov. According to him, the extraordinary concern two major source of instability – Afghanistan and the middle East, located in close proximity to the borders of the CIS.

“Together with foreign partners on the territory of Russia, suppressed the activity of 5 cells and 54 members of the international terrorist organizations, including Islamic state, Khatib of Imam al-Bukhari Jamaat and Ansarullah (banned in Russia)”, – quotes Bortnikov “Interfax”. He urged all countries to unite to fight the terrorists.

According to him, functionaries of international terrorist organizations operating abroad, remotely run their terrorist networks, which use a wide range of media: agents, liaison, satellite communications and the Internet.

The head of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov earlier urged “to solve the problem of lack of control and anonymity of the global virtual space, which is actively used by terrorists for recruitment.”

In 2015, at a meeting of the Council of heads of States – participants of the CIS Vladimir Putin said that in the IG, according to various estimates, are 5-7 thousand immigrants from Russia and other countries of the Commonwealth. At the same time, the militants of this organization had declared Jihad on Russia. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the Downing of the Russian plane over the Sinai on October 31, which killed 224 people returning from Egypt.
