Georgian police who blew up the human rights activist on the grave of his son, received 20 years in prison
On Friday, Tbilisi city court has pronounced a sentence already to the former employee of the Ministry of internal Affairs Giorgi Sosiashvili found guilty in the sophisticated and cynical murder of human rights activist. As follows from the materials of the criminal case, one of the founders and an active member of the public movement “Save life” Yuri Vazagashvili died January 20, 2015 in the explosion that shattered on the grave of his son Zurab Vazagashvili carapelli in the village of Kaspi district (Shida Kartli).
During the investigation it was established that the bomb on the grave set Giorgi Asanishvili. The explosion took place at a time when Yuri Vazagashvili replaced the flowers in the vase, in which was “the infernal machine”.
At the end of 2014 and early 2015 Yuri Vazagashvili in public speeches demanded an objective investigation into the murder of his son and punish the perpetrators. It is also planned to organize protests that “caused no particular irritation Giorgi Sosiashvili”, said the Prosecutor’s office.
“He clearly saw that as a result of social activity Yuri Vazagashvili could stand the issue of criminal liability they distinguished persons”, – stated in a press release.
During the trial, which lasted four months, were interviewed 70 witnesses for the prosecution, examined more than 20 expert opinions, including genetic, forensic, soil, ballistic.
In the end, Sosanashvili was found guilty under paragraph “C”, part 1, paragraph “b, e” part 3 of article 109 (“Premeditated murder with aggravating circumstances, committed with particular cruelty, the way, knowingly endangering the life and health of other persons, in connection with the public activities of the victim”) and part 1 and 2 of article 236 (“Illegal acquisition, storage, carrying of weapons, ammunition and explosives”) the criminal code of Georgia.
The Murder Of Zurab Vazagashvili
The son of Yuri, Vazagashvili was killed by police in 2006 as bystanders. Guards were interested in friend Zurab Vazagashvili – Alexander Khubulov.

Originally charged with murder of unarmed young people was charged with 11 former special forces and their bosses. But then seven of them were released from custody.
30 October 2015 Tbilisi city court sentenced five former police officer involved in resonant double murder nine years ago. The perpetrators received prison terms of three to 12 years.
