More than 450 American writers opposed the candidate for the US presidency from the Republican party, Donald trump, reports Entertainment Weekly. An open letter to the writers, among them such famous as Stephen king, Cheryl ” Strayed, Dave Eggers, published on the website of the Literary Hub.

In his message to the American people, the writers said that they are against trump, because due to the nature of the profession aware of the fact that language can be abused in the name of power. The authors of the letter reminded that any democracy worthy of the name, is based on pluralism, welcomes principled disagreement and achieve consensus through reasoned debate.

As stated in the text of the letter, signed 472 writers, American history, except for periods of nativism and racism, from the very beginning was a Grand experiment to unite people from different walks of life, not to set them against each other.

The writers believe that a candidate for the presidency may not be the person who appeals to the most vile and aggressive elements of society, encourages the aggression of their supporters, screaming silences his opponents, intimidates opponents, insults women and members of minorities.

“For all these reasons, we, the undersigned, oppose the candidacy of Donald trump for President of the United States,” concluded the authors of the message.

Writers mark Slauk and Andrew Altschul has posted a petition against trump on the website iPetitions. Her goal is to get 10 thousand votes. At the time of this writing, the signatures under the document were put 6573 person.

Stephen king, commenting on the open letter writers, said that trump is “pugnacious idiot with no real understanding of how government works,” according to BuzzFeed News.

During the election campaign, Donald trump has managed to do not one scandalous statement. So, he threatened to withdraw the U.S. from NATO, calling the Alliance an outdated organization and predicting that it will soon disintegrate due to the debts of its members. The billionaire also suggested that Japan and South Korea themselves to get nuclear weapons to “scare” North Korea.

Trump also promised to impose huge sales taxes on China. Last year in pre-election speech, trump, speaking to potential voters, called Mexican immigrants “rapists”who are the community of drugs and crime.
