In Berlin, the negotiations “channel four” – the leaders of Germany, Ukraine, France and Russia Angela Merkel, Petro Poroshenko, Francois Hollande and Vladimir Putin, reports “Interfax”.
The talks lasted for more than three hours. The leaders of the four countries to discuss the problem of resolving the conflict in the East of Ukraine: implementation of the Minsk agreements, as well as further steps associated with the establishment of the peace process in the Donbass.
The meeting was held in the Office of the Federal Chancellor without the presence of the press. Media representatives showed a three-minute video of the start of negotiations without sound, reports TASS. The camera captured the moment of welcome leaders and handshakes if it was.

The footage shows that the four leaders sitting at a round table. Each of them was escorted by two representatives. At the right hand of Putin’s place was taken by the Minister of foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, on the left – assistant to the President Vladislav Surkov. Note that Surkov is in the sanctions list – yet he with 2014 prohibited entry into the United States and the EU. According to the staff, in the room there is also a Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov and press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.
Ukrainian President is accompanied by foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin and head of the presidential administration Konstantin Eliseev. The French party, in addition to Hollande, represented by the chief of naval staff of France Admiral Bernard rogel and special envoy of President Jacques Audibert. Along with Merkel, the meeting was attended by foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the special envoy of Chancellor Christoph Heusgen.
Prior to the meeting, Hollande, Merkel and Poroshenko held talks in a trilateral format. During this conversation, they have coordinated their positions to participate in the full meeting, “Norman Quartet.” In particular, Hollande said that he intends together with Angela Merkel to call President Vladimir Putin announced yesterday to extend humanitarian pause in Syria.
