In Crimea has begun consideration of the claim on the prohibition of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis, the court handed sheets of 636 evidence
The Supreme court of Crimea has started consideration of the claim on the recognition of the public organization “the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people” extremist organization and to ban on the territory of the Russian Federation. The lawsuit was filed by the Prosecutor of the Republic Natalia Poklonskaya. The defendant is first Deputy Chairman of the Majlis of Nariman Jelal, which represents the interests of the organization in Crimea.
On 3 March, the court began preliminary hearings on the case. Poklonskaya and Jalal are present in court in person. Considering the case judge Natalia Terentyeva, reports RIA “Novosti”.
During the meeting Poklonskaya made a motion to leave to file the documents constituting the evidence of the prosecution. “I beg to introduce into evidence certified copies of the documents and seven CD-ROM”, – quotes the words of the Prosecutor of the Crimea “Criminals”.
“This is, first of all, constituent documents of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people, as well as proofs of illegal actions by the leaders of the organization. So, for example, their involvement in the unrest on the border in may 2014 and subversive activities in November 2015″, – said Poklonsky, adding that overall the amount of evidence amounted to 636 sheets.
The Prosecutor hoped that the court will consider the claim in the terms established by law, “if the defendant will not knowingly delay the process”.
In turn, the defendant in the person of Deputy Chairman of Majlis Nariman Jelal and his lawyer Cemil Temicheva made a request-time awareness provided to the court materials. After hearing the parties, the court granted the defendant’s motion and scheduled the next hearing on March 10.
The petition about a ban of the Mejlis Poklonskaya filed on 15 February. His request she explained the destructive activities of the Mejlis and its leadership. As examples of the Prosecutor has led an anti-government rally of members of the Mejlis, the organization of mass riots in front of the Crimean Parliament on 26 February 2014, in which two people were killed and over 70 were injured.
In Crimea the leaders of the Majlis also considered by the organizers of bombings of transmission towers on the territory of Kherson region of Ukraine, resulting in the night of November 22, 2015 the Peninsula was completely de-energized. On this fact the Federal security service opened a criminal case under article “Diversion”. The Federal investigation of this case declared the member of Parliament, former Vice-Premier of Crimea Lenur islyamov.
Russian law enforcement is currently investigating criminal proceedings against Refat Chubarov and the former head of Mejlis Mustafa Dzhemilev. They are accused of incitement to violation of territorial integrity of the Russian Federation. Dzhemilev and Chubarov declared in the international search.
In September 2015, the leaders of the Mejlis initiated blockade of the Crimea. Activists were blocked by checkpoints (CAT) on the border of the Republic of Ukraine, thus interfering with the transportation of products to the Crimea.
