Indian police have arrested four people suspected laid out in the Network of the fourth episode of the seventh season of the popular American series “Game of thrones” before its release on screens. As reported by the BBC, the three accused are members of Prime Focus Technology, fourth detainee, a former employee of the company.
Based in Mumbai the company Prime Focus, which is preparing to air a series of “Game of thrones”, has filed a complaint with the police after the discovery of a new episode in the Network.
The fourth series of the show were leaked in open access 4 August – two days before its premiere. As it turned out, the result of a hacker attack on the internal network cable channel HBO, the attackers stole the recording of the fourth episode of the new season of the series. A pirated copy of the series appeared in shared hosting Google Drive.
A group of hackers claimed to have stolen 1.5 terabytes of data of HBO. Among them was the scenario of not yet released episodes of “Game of thrones”. The attackers demanded from the management of the TV channel to pay them $ 6 million.
However, it is noted that the arrests in India, made on Monday, were not associated with the latest hacking. The investigation established that four men who had work access to new episodes of the show, is guilty of the unauthorized publication of the fourth series of the seventh season of “Game of thrones”.
As stated by the Deputy police Commissioner of Mumbai, Akbar Pathan, they were accused of violation of intellectual property rights and cybercrime. While the court determined the time of their arrest until August 21.
