In Italy, the court postponed the hearing of the case against Berlusconi because of his hospitalization
The court of Milan has postponed scheduled for 3 October preliminary hearing in the case against former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi due to problems with his health on December 15. It is accused of links with no whore, and minor bribes to witnesses to keep quiet.
According to the Agency ANSA, Berlusconi went to new York to check heart. In June he successfully did the surgery to replace the aortic valve. However, the process of recovery was delayed. The lawyers provided to the judge the certificate of inspection.
The ex-Premier is accused of using the services of underage prostitutes to his parties. He had been acquitted in the highest court – the court of Cassation. However, the Milan Prosecutor’s office opened a new investigation, suspecting Berlusconi and his lawyers of bribing witnesses. Only in this case is, in addition to Berlusconi, 23 people. According to investigators, the total amount of bribes is more than 10 million euros.
According to Italian law, for bribing witnesses and participants in the trial in order to discredit the court faces four to 10 years of imprisonment.
In July 2014, former Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi acquitted in the case on abuse of official position and involvement in prostitution of minors. In the press this story is better known as “ruby” is a nickname of the Moroccan Karima El-Marug, which, according to investigators, the politician had sexual intercourse when she was not yet 18 years old.
The court acquitted Berlusconi in connection with absence of structure of a crime. The court took note of the statements of advocates policy, according to which telephone conversations presented by the prosecution in a lower court, does not mean that Berlusconi compel a person to prostitution or use of sexual services for a fee.
Silvio Berlusconi served three times as Prime Minister of Italy. He made a fortune in construction and media industry, after which he founded the conservative party “Forward, Italy!” (Forza Italia). He also owns football club AC Milan.
In July 2015, Belusconi was found guilty of bribing the senators in 2007 to overthrow the government headed by Romano Prodi. The court of Naples sentenced him to three years imprisonment. But in jail policies were not included, because, under Italian law, people in old age for minor crimes don’t go to jail.
Previously Berlusconi has already been punished for financial fraud: he was sentenced to community service for one year. Initially, the court sentenced him to four years imprisonment. Later, according to the law on Amnesty, the sentence was reduced to one year.
