Pictures made by the famous Director Andrey Tarkovsky, went under the hammer in London during a special auction for Bonhams 63,75 thousand pounds sterling (79,2 thousand US dollars). About it RIA “news” have informed in the auction house.
A unique collection of images shot on Polaroid, was first introduced to the market. “Photos – a snapshot look at the world of Tarkovsky, who made the main and mystical leitmotif of all his works, they are very reminiscent of film stills,” – said earlier the head of the Russian Department in London Bonhams Daria Chernenko.
In the end, two were sold the lot nine photos for 32.5 thousand pounds (40.4 thousand dollars) and 31,25 thousand pounds sterling (38,86 thousands of dollars).
Photographs taken in the late 1970’s-early 1980-ies, captured footage from the filming of “nostalgia”, the wife of the Director Larisa Tarkovskaya, and the village Meat of the Ryazan region, where in 1970 I bought a house.
The author of the films “Solaris”, “Andrei Rublev,” “Stalker”, “Ivan’s childhood” started to take on a Polaroid camera in 1977 in Moscow and, in the opinion of those around him, was delighted with the possibility of an immediate manifestation of the image. Italian poet, writer and screenwriter Tonino Guerra recalled how in 1977 at his wedding ceremony in Moscow, Tarkovsky came with a Polaroid camera and take great pleasure in taking photos.
