The Olympic training center in the Republic of Mordovia race walking, which bore the name of coach Victor Chegin, eliminated. Instead, the resolution of the government of the Republic of 12 February established a school of the Olympic reserve.
This was stated by TASS, the acting Director of the Center for Faith Nazarkina.
Last summer, after a series of doping scandals all-Russian athletics Federation (vfla) has suspended the coach Viktor Chegin from work and decided not to send domestic walkers for the next international competitions, to avoid possible damage to the image of the country.
In December the international Association of athletics federations (IAAF) ordered wfla to suspend cooperation with the centre name Chegin to inspections by the Russian Olympic Committee. In late December it was announcedthat instead of the centre will be established Junior school.
“Who will lead this school, is still unknown. In any case, this determines the Federation and decide on the spot, – said Butov. – The transformation of the Centre is not connected with the requirement of the IAAF, but fulfills it”, – told TASS wfla General Secretary Mikhail Butov.
Recall that dozens of wards Chegin became participants of the doping scandal in Russian athletics. The most notorious of them were associated with the disqualifications for the use of illegal drugs Olympic Champions Elena Lashmanova, Valeria Barcina, Sergei Kirdyapkin and Olga Kaniskina, as well as Vladimir Kaniskina and Sergey Bakulin.
