On Tuesday in Moscow at the international conference “Alexander Men: the message of the XXI century”, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the tragic death of the writer of the Church and missionary, was presented the first volume 15-volume collected works of Archpriest Alexander men – is his most famous book, “Son of man”.
The book “Son of man” – this, according to Me, “the gospel history essay, intended for the reader who is not familiar with the Scripture,” he began writing in 1949, at the age of 14, and graduated in 1957. Subsequently, the priest still repeatedly returned to this work, and, in addition, reports RIA “Novosti”.
“The book, “Son of man” written in language understandable for the reader not familiar with the religion, she put the teachings of Christ with the life of his epoch, leads one to the understanding of the circumstances in which Christ lived. This is an example of how to display the truths of the gospel so that people feel that they belong to him personally that this is real life,” he said during a presentation at the Russian national library of foreign literature (UGIBL) the Chairman of the publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Kliment (Kopalin).
According to him, the book “Son of man” clearly shows “the reality of the gospel events – what they were, that it’s not a myth that the Son of God, Christ, indeed embodied, saved humanity”.
According to the rector of the Church of Cosmas and Damian in shubino Archpriest Alexander Borisov, Alexander Men writes about Christ as if they knew Him personally. And in the life of this shepherd, according to Borisov, there were many moments when he really had a personal revelation of Christ’s presence. “He always said the most important thing that Christ has left us with nothing behind him, and he remained with us, saying the most important words: “I am with you alway, even unto the end of the age (Matthew, Chapter 28, verse 20),” – says the priest.
The Chairman of the Department for external Church relations of Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) called Me Archpriest Alexander “one of the outstanding pastors of the Russian Orthodox Church of the twentieth century” who “was not afraid to openly bring the light of Christ’s truth in the difficult Soviet times.” Men often performed in palaces of culture, in schools, hospitals, stadiums and other “sites of public preaching”, but for a few days before his death gave his last lecture at the Library of foreign literature.
“In those hard times father Alexander was a kind of guiding star for those who were wandering in the fog. He is an amazing example of life, Russia can be proud that she had such citizens”, – said, in turn, Chile’s Ambassador to Russia Juan Eduardo Eguiguren Guzman.
