A bust of the legendary Soviet football goalkeeper Lev Yashin was erected at the “Alley of Russian glory” with an error in the date of death. On the pedestal is incorrect month of the death of the athlete is engraved 20 Mar 20 APR (PHOTO).

The opening of the monument took place on Saturday in Moscow in front of the main entrance to the building of the Russian state University of physical culture, sport, youth and tourism.

According to the representative of the Moscow branch of the “Alley of Russian glory” Vladimir Koshlakov, the error will certainly be corrected.

“I don’t know how it happened, but we will correct the date. Soon zamazhem or attach anything on top of the numbers, and closer to the warm season will hang on top of a special plate with all the information. If you do it now, then paint, which we applied, may swell” – quoted by TASS Koshlakov.

Yashin was born on 22 October 1929 in Moscow. He played for Dynamo Moscow from 1950 to 1971, during this time, five times won the championship of the USSR. For the USSR national team from 1954 to 1967, spent 74 matches, becoming the Olympic champion in 1956 and winner of the European championship in 1960. In 1963 he was named best player in Europe, received the prize “Golden ball”, he is the only goalkeeper in history who managed to become the winner of this award.

Yashin was voted the International Federation of football Association best goalkeeper of the XX century. He died on 20 Mar 1990 in Moscow on 61-the m to year of life.
