Russian Union of milling and groats enterprises estimates the deficit of food wheat of the 3rd class needed to obtain bread flour, at 12.6 million tons, reports “Interfax”. To replace the deficit will have wheat low grades, according to the organization.
“This year, we hear staggering forecasts for the grain harvest, but a huge crop, usually accompanied by low quality of grain,” – said the President of the Russian Union of milling and groats enterprises Arcady Gurevich at the 12th Congress of the millers on Tuesday in Moscow. According to him, the quality of the grain decreases from year to year. And this year, the millers have faced this problem.
As said the head of the industry Association, the share of wheat of the 3rd class in the gross wheat harvest in 2012 was 48.2%, in 2013 it dropped to 38.5%, in 2014 to 34.2%, in 2015 – to 33.2%.
According to preliminary data, on September 1, 2016, the proportion of this wheat was only 18%. Wheat of 3rd class – valuable – average strength, has good baking properties. According to Gurevich, the shortage of wheat of the 3rd class this year is estimated at 12.6 million tons.
