The first reader by the rector of the School-Studio of the Moscow art theatre, honored artist of Russia Igor zolotovitski. In the readings “the Master and Margarita. In total, the project involved more than 500 readers, which the organizers have selected from over two thousand applications received from 70 regions and 240 localities in Russia, reports TASS.
Passages for reading have been selected in accordance with the image reader, the impression which it produces.
The uniqueness of the project is to use video technology with 360 degree coverage. Thus, the viewer can be in the center of one of the key scenes of the novel – the ball of Satan (this concept is reflected in the title of the project “the Master and Margarita. I was there”). This will happen on Friday around 22:30 p.m. Moscow time and will last about an hour.
The project “the Master and Margarita. I was there” is timed to the 125th anniversary of the birthday of Mikhail Bulgakov (1891-1940) and the 50th anniversary of the first edition of the novel.
Video stream readings is on YouTube and on the project website.
Mikhail Bulgakov started writing the “fiction novel” as he himself called a new book, in 1929 (according to others, in the second half of 1928). In 1937 he finished the draft version of “the Master and Margarita”, which was then repeatedly edited until February 1940. By this time the writer was already seriously ill, almost blind, and changes in the manuscript of the dictation was made by his wife Elena Sergeevna. 13 Feb was the last day working on the novel, and on March 10 Bulgakov died.
Elena has long fought for the publication of the last works of her husband. It was first printed with reductions and corrections only in 1966, in the literary journal “Moskva”. And the full text of the novel in the latest edition of Bulgakov were published in the Russian language after 23 years in 1989.
To this day, as the polls show, “the Master and Margarita” by Mikhail Bulgakov remains one of my favorite books of the Russians.
