In the Georgian capital of Tbilisi during the visit of Pope Francis, October 2, died, 77-year-old Chaldean Archbishop Hanna Zora, reports Georgia Online. His body was found in a hotel room at the Holiday Inn in Tbilisi.

Catholic Prelate was in Tbilisi together with the Patriarch of the Chaldean Church Mar Louis Sako and members of the Holy Synod of the Chaldean Catholic Church. They all arrived for the meeting with Pope Francis, where the Pontiff flew a two-day visit on September 30.

According to the representative of the Catholic Bishop of the Caucasus Giuseppe pasotto, Bishop of Zora arrived in Georgia with Pope Francis together with other bishops. “He took part in several events in Tbilisi. Because of health he was advised to go to Georgia, but he still decided, reports “Interfax”.

At the hotel Holiday Inn confirmed the death of the Archbishop, but said that he died because of ill health. “The guest was quite elderly. Representatives from their group we received information that he was sick, and discussed the question of whether he will go to Georgia, but he still decided to go. Just, this sad fact has occurred from-for deteriorations of health,” said assistant General Manager of the hotel Elena Machavariani.

The Chaldean Catholic Church is one of the Eastern Catholic churches. Archbishop Hanna Zora was born in the village of Batina March 15, 1939, he was ordained priest on 10 June 1962, ordained Bishop of the Iranian diocese in the city of Ahwaz in 1974, left Iran in 1987 and was appointed head of the ecclesiastical mission in Canada in 1987. From 2011 to 2014 he headed the diocese of Mar-Adda in Toronto.
