Military counterintelligence of Germany, have identified 20 of the Islamists in the army, 60 soldiers under suspicion. Now the Minister of defence of Germany requires rigorous verification of candidates for military service, and legislators are preparing to review the law on checks for candidates.
The results of extensive testing, the military counterintelligence service of Germany (MAD) announced the publications of the media group Funke. Counterintelligence believe that these Islamist groups are purposefully sending their members to serve in the Bundeswehr for the purpose of training them in the treatment of various types of weapons. The test proved the relationship with the Islamists two dozen military personnel information in respect of another 60 is checked, reports DW.
The Minister of defence of Germany Ursula von der Leyen had previously insisted that candidates for military service reinforced passed the security checks. The bill was presented by the German government in August. Next week it will be in the first reading considered by the Bundestag. If it will, it will enter into force on 1 July 2017.
The changes will affect around 20,000 potential soldiers of the Bundeswehr. Until now, the recruits had to provide only a certificate of clearance from the police and swear on the basic law of Germany.
According to the Agency DPA, with 207 years in the German army identified 24 of the Islamists. 19 were dismissed and five have already completed service. At least three dozen former soldiers of Bundeswehr fought in Syria and Iraq on the side of “Islamic state” (IG, a group banned in Russia).
