Germany is considering the introduction of new sanctions against Russia because of the worsening situation in Syria. As reported by the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, said the head of the Bundestag Committee on foreign Affairs, member of the party “Christian democratic Union” (CDU) Norbert röttgen. The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov, commenting on the preparation of new sanctions, said that “the case of the German government, the question on the conscience of those who stand on the proposition that Syria is really happening”.
In turn, the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said that Russia sees no reason to enter additional economic sanctions. He reminded that Russia is the only country armed forces which are legitimate from the point of view of international law are in Syria. “We know that there are still countries, whose armed forces are illegitimate from the point of view of international law are in Syria”, – he said.
