In the Kremlin, commenting on the recent Putin’s conversation with the President of Iran, has avoided the topic of reduction of oil production
While in Vienna held a meeting of the Organization of countries – exporters of oil (OPEC) to discuss possible limitation of the level of oil production, the Kremlin reported that the presidents of Russia Vladimir Putin and Iran Hassan Rouhani during a recent telephone conversation discussed the “oil business”. At the same time, the Kremlin press service did not specify, and did talk of reducing production.
Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said that during a telephone conversation, Putin and Rouhani discussed cooperation issues in the oil sector. “Various issues of cooperation in the oil really touched on during the talks”, – said the representative of the Kremlin. So Sands responded to the journalists ‘ question whether Russia is ready to reduce oil production in the current conditions, reports “Interfax”.
According to the press service of the President of the Russian Federation, telephone conversation, Putin and Rouhani took place on 28 November. The report States that during the meeting the presidents agreed to continue to coordinate the steps on the world markets of hydrocarbons, including in the framework of the energy dialogue between Russia and OPEC. They noted the importance of developed through the OPEC’s measures restricting oil production “as a key factor in stabilizing the global oil market.”
Iranian oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh on the sidelines of the Vienna meeting, OPEC said that the organization considers for Iran additional options for the regulation of oil production than freeze. The Minister of energy of Venezuela, Eulochio del Pino said that the OPEC agreement, whatever it is, will be excluded Iran.
Earlier it was reported that the snag in the negotiations of OPEC lies in the disagreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran, the leaders of the cartel. Iran has been offered special terms on which his quota in achieving the agreements would have to be 3.9 million barrels per day. Iran insists on a quota of four million, which corresponds to the pre-sanctions level of production.
OPEC also expects to reduce oil production from Russia. The Ministry of energy announced that it will announce its position only after the final decision of the organization. Earlier, Moscow stated that in the case of adoption of the decision by organization of production cuts Russia is ready to go for the freezing production.
In September, the OPEC countries for energy summit in Algiers announced a preliminary agreement to cut oil production to a level of 32.5-33 million barrels per day. It is expected that this arrangement will be formalized at an official meeting of OPEC in Vienna on November 30.
