The greenhouse of the Central Botanical garden of Academy of Sciences located in the Moscow area Marfino, invited its guests to get acquainted with the new exposition, which is the collection of various biblical plants. “The exhibition features plants that are mentioned on the pages of Scripture – the most widely read books in the world”, – told in the press center of the greenhouse.
According to experts, such exposure exist in many Botanical gardens in the world, because the Bible is the source of valuable knowledge about how various cultivated plants by the people of Palestine. As scholars have noted, the plant images in this ancient book are not only symbolic, but also quite practical value.
Visitors will be able to study biblical flora”: a special explanatory signs placed near the plants contains detailed information about each exhibit. For example, the exhibition includes carob tree, cedar of Lebanon, date palm, cypress.

Work on the formation of the collection of biblical plants is very difficult. Two years hieromonk Alex has spent on scientific research. He studied specialized literature, and then independently researched the Bible, revealing consistency between the mentioned in it and plants that actually exist. The first list included more than 360 plant, and then began to gradually decrease and now it is 120 of the main plants – the so-called indisputable that are mentioned in the Bible.
