The Russian Ambassador in London Alexander Yakovenko said that a diplomatic office does not have the required number of employees because the UK authorities a few months do not issue visas to diplomats who were supposed to replace their colleagues returning home.
“We are trying to figure out whether Britain has an adequate diplomatic presence in London. Embassy staff is reduced, and if this continues, the number of the Embassy staff still will be reduced,” – said the Russian Ambassador , “Russian service BBC”.
Meanwhile, the British side rejected suggestions Yakovenko about the fact that the authorities are allegedly deliberately delaying the procedure of issuing visa documents to Russian diplomats. Currently, the website of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the UK lists the 11 diplomats, including the Ambassador Yakovenko.
Lately, diplomatic relations between Russia and Britain deteriorated sharply because of the situation in Syria. British foreign Minister, Boris Johnson, in particular, saidthat Russia risks becoming a pariah state, and called out on acacia of protest to the Russian Embassy in London.
