The US court convicted three Americans of Somali origin for aiding terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG banned in Russia): they got 10 to 15 years.

According to a release from the U.S. Department of justice, the defendants were accused of attempting to provide material support. Two defendants were arrested by the FBI in one of the airports of the city of new York in 2014. Another suspect was detained in 2015. They all planned to go to Syria to join the ranks of ISIS, reports RIA “Novosti”.

21-year-old Hamza naj Ahmed was sentenced to 15 years in prison. His peers Hand the Mustafa Moussa received 10 years in prison. The same term was received also by another suspect – 20-year-old Arian Abdihamid Farah.

Attorney Minnesota Andrew Luger said a harsh sentence: “the sentences Handed down today demonstrate the seriousness of the crimes committed by the defendants. Although the defendants pleaded guilty before trial, none of them was willing to cooperate with US. ISIS continues to target the Somali community in Minnesota”. (Quoted by RIA “Novosti”.)

It is expected that by the end of the week the case will be charged six suspects.
