The house of representatives Wednesday, November 30, passed the legislation in the sphere of intelligence, involving the creation of interdepartmental Commission to counter the “hidden political influence” of Russia in the world. As reported by the Associated Press, the measure may be contrary to the promise of President-elect Donald trump to improve US relations with Moscow.
The regulations on the formation of a special structure, included in a bill funding the intelligence agencies in 2017. Earlier, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the “Strategic communication of the EU as a counter-propaganda of the third parties.” The paper alleged that Moscow allegedly providing financial support to opposition political parties and organizations in member countries of the EU, and also uses bilateral relations to divide members of the community.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, commenting on the decision of the European Parliament, said that the resolution indicates obvious degradation of the conception of democracy in Western society. Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin is concerned about the trend towards restriction of freedom of speech in connection with the adoption of the resolution of the European Parliament and intend to take retaliatory measures.
