Mosques and Muslim organizations in Germany have increasingly become targets of attacks, according to Sueddeutsche Zeitung , citing recent police statistics.

The majority of incidents recorded in Western länder of Germany, which is due to the fact that in the East of the country is home to less than Muslims. Only a few incidents become public, the newspaper notes.

So, in addition to explosions near mosques in Dresden on 26 September, not so long ago there was two more incidents. In February of this year at the construction site of a mosque in Leipzig had thrown a dead pig, which is considered in Islam a filthy animal. In addition, also in February, an unknown person threw a Molotov cocktail into the courtyard of the mosque in Neunkirchen, in the Federal state of Saarland. Police said that in both cases the attackers were acting out of xenophobic motives, quoted by the German article InoPressa.

The reply from the German government to the request of the party “the Left”, from April to June in Germany, there have been 14 politically motivated crimes, the purpose of which was the mosque.

In addition, the German newspaper Die Tageszeitung and the organization of Correctiv, analyzing the statistics of the Federal criminal police office Germany (BKA) since 2001, revealed a significant increase in violence against Muslims in the country.

If in 2010 the BKA was known on 23 attacks, while in 2014 their number amounted to 64, and in 2015 – 75. Most attacks occurred in Leipzig, Cologne, Berlin and Hamburg.
