Krivosheinsky district court of Tomsk region has sentenced the local resident, who was found guilty of arson of the building. The fire damaged the premises of local point of police and educational institutions.

The court’s decision the arsonist will spend behind bars for five years. To serve his sentence he will be in the correctional colony of General regime, according to the official website of the regional Prosecutor’s office.

As follows from the materials of the criminal case, on the night of July 25, 2015 a resident of the village of Krasny Yar “doused with gasoline and set fire to the building in which was located a local police station, employment center, center of social support of the population, children’s school of arts and youth sports school”.

“As a result of the fire the building was completely burned, the damage from the crime exceeded 650 thousand rubles”, – stated in a press release.

Later, the guards detained the suspect. He was charged with part 2 of article 167 (“Deliberate destruction or damage of property, if these acts have entailed causing of a considerable damage, committed by arson”) of the criminal code.

During the trial, the man pleaded not guilty, “citing the fact that he incriminated himself on the stage of preliminary investigation with the aim of increasing its credibility in the criminal world”.

A curious explanation of the motives of the defendant impressed the court. But the public Prosecutor Vadim Yurkevich asked for the arsonist of punishment connected with isolation from society.
