India Sunday formally ratified the Paris agreement on climate that closely approximates the world for the practical implementation of this document. Yahoo , citing AFP reports that, following the accession of India, the agreement involves the countries that are responsible for 52% of greenhouse gas emissions. The agreement shall enter into force when this value reaches 55%. Next week, the agreement to ratify the European Union.

Representatives of the Indian government formally notified the UN Secretariat in new York that new Delhi gives effect to this agreement, reports TASS. UN Secretary-General ban Ki-moon congratulated India for this step. It happened on the birthday of the leader of the Indian national liberation movement of Mahatma Gandhi, which is celebrated in India as a national holiday.

The Paris agreement was made on 12 December 2015 up to the world conference of UN on climate change (COP-21) in the French capital. 195 participants of the forum agreed not to allow the increase in the average temperature of the planet by the year 2100 more than 2 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels.

23 April 2016 at the UN General Assembly in new York, the document was signed by 175 States, including Russia, Germany, USA, China and India.
