Interpol re-consider the announcement in the international search of the former head of Yukos Mikhail Khodorkovsky, said to”Interfax” an anonymous source “familiar with the situation”. According to the Agency, the international police organization sent additional documents on the case of murder of the mayor of Nefteyugansk.
The Agency reports that the international criminal police organization intends
to return to this subject at the insistence of the Russian side in the course
upcoming meeting scheduled for mid-November in Indonesia.
“Interpol has received from Moscow all requested materials in this case
in order to determine whether there are grounds for declaring the former head of the
Yukos in the international wanted list,” – said the source Agency.
Informed the Secretariat-General of police organizations recommended that
not to make to the national base profile of Khodorkovsky. In the headquarters
referred to article 3 of the United Nations Charter, which prohibits political persecution.
In August, Interpol canceled the warrant for the arrest of former Yukos co-owner Leonid Nevzlin.
That Russia declared Khodorkovsky on the international wanted list
by Interpol for the murder in 1998 of the mayor of Nefteyugansk
Vladimir Petukhov, became known in mid-February. At the end of December
last year the former head of Yukos, arrested in absentia and declared in
international search Basmanny court of Moscow.
The mayor of Nefteyugansk Vladimir Petukhov, accusing YUKOS in evasion from payment in the local budget, was murdered on 26 June 1998 – the birthday of Mikhail Khodorkovsky. Russian investigation has named the organizer of murder eks-the head of Department of internal economic security of YUKOS Aleksei Pichugin.
Summer Pichugin was transferred from prison to Moscow to testify on new charges against Khodorkovsky.
