In Iran there was a wreck of two passenger trains at 250 kilometers from the capital of the country. As a result of the tragedy killed at least 40 people, and another 100 were injured varying degrees of severity. According to local rescue services and doctors, the number of victims in the near future could rise, reports Reuters.

According to the revised data, the accident occurred on Friday at about 08:00 local time (07:30 GMT) at the station haft Khan, located on the border between the regions of Semnan and Damaghan.

As a result of collision of trains travelling on the routes Semnan – Mashhad and Tabriz – Mashhad derailed five cars, two of which later caught fire. The causes of the tragedy are not established yet.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has ordered to make all efforts to rescue passengers and investigate the causes of the tragedy.

At the moment we know that one of the trains at the moment of collision there were about 400 passengers, of which 48 are yet unaccounted for. The number of people who were in the second train, is not yet established.

According to Iranian TV, which was received by journalists of the Agency, at least four of the dead were employees of the railway company. They were in the train during the incident. All the wounded hospitalized, many were minor injuries.
