Italian MPs arrived in Crimea for the signing of an agreement on the twin cities and talk about the lifting of sanctions
In the night of Friday, October 14, 18 parliamentarians and businessmen from Italy arrived in the Crimea. It is expected that during the visit, the Italian delegation will sign with the authorities of the Peninsula twinning agreement Padua and Simferopol.
The trip was organized by the Fund “Yalta” international economic forum, reports TASS. According to his representative, the main program of the visit will begin at ten Friday morning with a meeting of the Italian delegation and the speaker of the state Council of the Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov.
Then foreigners will take in the Council of Ministers the head of the Republic Sergey Aksenov. “According to the program, during the meeting with Aksenov will be the signing of the Memorandum on twinning cities between the head of the city administration of Simferopol Gennady bokarevym by a representative of the municipality of Padua, who arrived in the delegation,” – said the representative of the Fund.
Also during the visit to Crimea of the Italian MPs and businessmen intend to discuss with government officials and the business community of the region and issues of cooperation and prospects for the lifting of Western sanctions. The delegation arrived in the Crimea from five Italian regions (Veneto, Liguria, Lombardy, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna).
In may the regional Council of Veneto adopted a resolutionurging the Italian government to recognize the inclusion of Crimea into the Russian Federation, as well as to seek the abolition of anti-Russian sanctions. Later, similar documents were adopted in Tuscany, Lombardy, Liguria and Emilia-Romagna.
Thus, Feldman insists that the visit is significant not so much for politicians, but for business. “The visit of the Italian delegation is important not only from a political point of view, he has a very practical dimension. In particular, it is important for us to establish cooperation with representatives of Italian business, who have extensive experience in the field of water purification, production of farming, food, animal feed,” – wrote the head of the Republic on his page in Facebook. Aksenov also expressed hope that during the visit of the Association “Massandra” the Italians are interested in the prospects for collaboration with the Crimean winemakers.
Last year in the Crimea was visited by delegations of parliamentarians from several countries of Europe. In December 2015, the Ukrainian authorities reported that some European politicians were open criminal proceedingsrelated to illegal, according to Kiev, visits to the Peninsula, which Ukraine considers occupied by Russia.
In July last year the Crimea was visited by French deputies , headed by Deputy of the National Assembly Thierry Mariani. The delegation consisted of ten members of Parliament. Following the visit of the French deputies stated the need to abandon sanctions against Russia and to recognize Crimea as Russian territory.
It was the first visit to the Peninsula of the European Parliament after its accession to Russia in March 2014. In Kiev, the visit of the French delegation to the Crimea called lack of respect for the state sovereignty of Ukraine and threatened to ban entry to Ukrainian territory. After the French decision to go to the Crimea with the visit took the Italian parliamentarians. Crimea was annexed by Russia in March 2014 according to the results held on the Peninsula the referendum.
