Actor Jackie Chan received on Saturday a honorary “Oscar” for outstanding contribution to cinema (Academy Honorary Award), reports TASS with reference to the message the American Academy of motion picture arts.

Awards were presented at a special ceremony at the entertainment complex Hollywood and Highland Center in Los Angeles (California). Originally, these awards were given during the main ceremony awards “Oscar”. But then they created a special evening to highlight their significance.

Receiving an honorary Oscar, popular all over the world the master of martial arts said that despite his long career in film, he did not expect this award.

In addition to Jackie Chan, the Academy handed a statuette to the American documentary film Director Frederick Wiseman, casting Director Lynn Starmaster and British female film editor Anne Coates.

62-year-old Jackie Chan, according to Forbes magazine, ranked second in the ranking of the highest paid actors in the world ($61 million). Among his famous works – the Drunken master (Zui quan, 1978), “Armour of God” (Lung foo hing dai 1986), “rush Hour” (Rush Hour, 1998), “Shanghai knights” (Shanghai Knights, 2003).
