The Minister of defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak during visit to Germany, said that Kiev is not planning to return the control of individual districts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions by military means, according to DW.
Thus Poltorak does not exclude new provocations from Russia. “We do not consider the question of solving the problem of the seizure of the territory of Donetsk and Lugansk by force. But every citizen of Ukraine (…) will defend every inch of their land, if Russia takes the decision to open aggression,” – said Poltorak during a visit to Germany. He noted that the violation of the ceasefire and the Minsk agreements – on the conscience of Russia, including the supply of military equipment to the separatists.
“We are convinced that Donetsk and Luhansk – the territory of Ukraine”, – said the Minister and announced a number of important decisions of the government and the President to return beyond the control of the regions and the Crimea under the jurisdiction of Ukraine. Concrete steps, however, Poltorak is not called.
“Neither Russia nor any other state have no right to decide on what path to follow Ukraine. I am also sure that the conflict in the East of Ukraine must be settled in a democratic way”, – the Minister said and noted that today Ukraine’s Armed forces fully control the situation in the ATO area and do not violate the Minsk agreements.
In Berlin Poltorak, in particular, held talks with the Minister of defence of Germany Ursula von der Leinen, and the parties outlined a number of areas in which strengthened cooperation between the two countries, reports “UKRINFORM”. “We are talking about the provision of Advisory assistance, training related to the provision of medical care and rehabilitation of our military, on the exchange of information between the two structures of the Ministry of defense; issues related to personnel training,” – said Poltorak. He also invited a German colleague in Kyiv, adding that 10 years of cooperation background Leinen never came.

On 8 April the website of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced the signing of the President’s decree “On approving the annual national programme under the auspices of the Commission Ukraine – NATO in 2017″. The program is aimed at further development of political dialogue of Ukraine with the North Atlantic Alliance. 8 may the Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the Ukrainian authorities still do not perform the Minsk agreement. “This applies to the complete sabotage of the political process, and organizations on a regular basis armed provocations on the contact line in order to have an excuse not to fulfill the political part of the package of measures approved in Minsk,” – said Lavrov.
